ALVARO MUTIS
Born in Bogotá in 1923. Author of the poetry books: Elements of the disaster (1953), Review of overseas hospitals (1955), The lost jobs (1965), Summa de Maqroll the Gaviero (1973), Caravansary (1981), The messengers (1984), Chronicle regia and praise of the kingdom (1985), A tribute to seven at night (1986). Narrative works: Journal Lecumberri (1960), The Mansion Araucaima (1973), Snow of the Admiral (1986), Ilona arrives with the Rain (1987), A bel die (1989), The last stop of the Tramp Steamer (1989), The Death of the strategist (1990), Amirbar (1990) and Abdul Bashur dreamer of ships (1991), land and sea Triptych (1993). In addition to the Cervantes Prize (2001), was awarded the National Poetry Award of Colombia (1983), Xavier Villaurrutia Award (1988), Prix Médicis Etranger (1989), Premio Roger Caillois (1993), Gran Cruz de Alfonso X El Sabio (1996), Prince of Asturias Prize (1997), the Reina Sofía (1997), awarded City of Trieste (2000).
